Graduate students are invited to apply to a new graduate student exchange program between UIUC and the Center for American Studies and the Department of Geography at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. It is a beautiful university nestled along the Neckar River and the mountains in Central Germany. The university has superb programs in American Studies and Geography (complemented by excellent Urban Studies, Cinema, and Literature departments).
Starting since Spring 2018, students have had the opportunity to visit and study at Heidelberg through this program. Through the reciprocal arrangements between the universities, you will register for classes at UIUC, and then travel to Heidelberg to attend classes there. All classes are taught in English and the University of Heidelberg welcomes US and other international students. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2018.
The Spring semester at the University of Heidelberg begins a bit later than ours, so please note the dates:
- Recommended arrival (for students participating in the pre-semester language course): Thursday, February 28th, 2019
- Preparatory German language course (80 hours of Instruction): March 5th – March 29th, 2019
- Orientation for all new international students: April 9 - 11, 2019
- Lecture period: April 15 – July 27, 2019.
If you are interested in participating in this exchange program, please contact Prof. David Wilson (firstname.lastname@example.org).
